SENSORY PROCESSING

TACTILE

Senses touch, pressure, temperature, & pain

AUDITORY

Processes changes in sound frequency and comprehends language

VISUAL

Responsible for seeing shape, color, orientation, & motion

Most people are taught about the 5 senses. But guess what? You actually have 8 senses! At SkyClimb Sensory Development Center, our goal is to help everyone "feel" all of their senses. Many times, these senses are diminished or amplified in those with Sensory Processing Disorder.

VESTIBULAR

Responsible for detecting movement through space and head position

PROPRIOCEPTION

Internal gauge telling use where our body is in space and how much force to use

OLFACTORY

Processes smell, allowing us to discriminate between odors

GUSTATORY

Senses taste that allows us to discern between safe & harmful foods

INTEROCEPTION

Detects internal regulation responses such as hunger and heart rate
